On 19 November 2022, as part of Operation Safe Mediterranean during the logistical stop in the port of Valletta, the San Giorgio ship received a visit on board from His Excellency Dr. Fabrizio Romano, Ambassador of Italy to Malta.
The Ambassador was welcomed by the tactical commander of the III rotation of Operation Safe Mediterranean, Rear Admiral Riccardo Marchiò, together with the commander of the unit, vessel captain Francesco Iavazzo.
The ambassador took the opportunity to greet the crew of the San Giorgio ship, deployed on the flight deck, addressing words of gratitude for the commitment that the Navy carries out every day in the service of national interests in the various geopolitical theaters. He also underlined the importance of cooperation between Italy and Malta, in the broader context of maritime security in the Mediterranean, also underlining the importance of the stops of the naval units of the Navy in Valletta.
