FMV has ordered four 57 mm naval all-purpose guns (57Mk3) from BAE Systems Bofors with delivery in 2028 and 2029. The new artillery pieces will implement pieces that are on board some of the navy’s ships today.
“These new guns, together with modern programmable ammunition, strengthen the Navy’s ability to meet threats from, for example, both flying and surface drones,” says Olof Öhrström, Head of Ship Systems at FMV.
The contract also includes training and other services in connection with the introduction of the plays.
At the same time, an order was placed for Bofors 57 mm 3P ammunition, i.e., an advanced, all-purpose type of medium-caliber ammunition. The ammunition is pre-fragmented and can be programmed automatically in the barrel.
