Brazil Issues RFP for a New Antarctic Support Ship

The objective of the RFP is to communicate to the market and establish requirements and conditions to select the best proposal for the acquisition of an Antarctic Support Ship (NApAnt), to be built in Brazil.

The acquisition of NApAnt aims to maintain the international cooperation commitments assumed by Brazil in the Antarctic Treaty, which culminated with the installation of the Comandante Ferraz Antarctic Station (EACF) in 1983.

The future NApAnt will replace the Oceanographic Support Vessel “Ary Rongel” in the maintenance and supply of the EACF and will provide logistical and operational support to the research projects of the Brazilian Antarctic Program (Proantar).
