On June 10, on the eve of the celebration of the Day of Russia, at JSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky, a serial special-purpose boat of project 21980 was launched.
The event was attended by representatives of the High Command of the Russian Navy, General Director of JSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky Alexander Filippov, First Deputy General Director of JSC Shipbuilding Corporation Ak Bars for Strategic Development, Finance and Economics Alesya Zaripova and etc.
Boats of this project have been built at the enterprise since 2008. At present, already 10 units are successfully on combat duty as part of the Baltic, Black Sea fleets and the Caspian flotilla. The boats participated in the security of events such as the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the World Cup and the Confederations Cup in football. For several years in a row, on Navy Day, the lead boat of project 21980 ” Nakhimovets” opened the dynamic part of the display of the Main Naval Parade of the country in St. Petersburg.
According to the developer, project 21980 special-purpose boats are designed to protect the water areas of the naval bases of the Russian Navy. Modern equipment and high seaworthiness allow them to solve a wide range of tasks that are typical for ships of much larger displacement.
