The construction of the Tug is being carried out under a Contract between LLC Intro-Pella, part of the Pella shipbuilding holding, and the towing company LLC GRIPHON, which performs works in the waters of the Big Port of St. Petersburg.
GRIPHON-9 is the lead ship of the Project 05380 – a modified version of the well-proven serial Project 90600, more than 50 units of which are successfully operating in Russian and foreign ports.
The new tug’s unique feature is the largest main engine possible for its hull, with a total capacity of approximately 3 MW, providing a bollard pull of 50 tons. This makes the GRIFON-9 one of the most powerful harbor tugs among vessels of its size.
The tug is designed to perform the functions of guiding and turning large-capacity vessels, delivering, disembarking/removing pilots from/to vessels, as well as towing vessels, floating objects, and structures in open water and in ice conditions.
