The Swedish submarine rescue ship HMS Belos visited Turku 14–16 November 2025. HMS Belos docks in the port of Turku. The ship is not open to the public.
During the visit, Finnish and Swedish divers will practice diving activities together with HMS Belos in the Gulf of Finland. The Swedish divers have previously given the Finnish divers training in HMS Belo’s diving system, which provides preparedness to act in the event of, for example, a submarine accident.
“The cooperation between the divers increases our preparedness to deal with underwater sabotage, for example,” says Commander Toni Joutsia, Chief of Staff of the Coastal Fleet.
The divers are also cooperating in the investigation of cable damage in the Gulf of Finland. The anchor from the oil tanker Eagle S was salvaged by HMS Belos in January 2025.
The Coastal Fleet hosted the visit.
