In an effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation and maritime diplomacy between the Indonesian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), KRI Spica-934 and HMAS Leeuwin A-245 Soldiers carried out Ship Visit Exchange activities as part of the Harbour Phase of the Coordinated Hydrographic Survey Exercise (CHSE) 2025, located at the Port of Tenau Kupang, Tuesday (11/11/2025).

This exchange of visits was attended by all personnel, from ship commanders to lower-level soldiers, and became a means of strengthening the relationship between the two Navy personnel through direct interaction, exchange of experiences, and understanding of their respective systems and work cultures. Previously, the two ships had carried out Sea Phase around the Timor Sea, including various hydrographic exercises such as MBES, SBES, SSS, CTD, Tide Gauge, Meteorology, and Seabed Sampling Exercise, as well as tactical exercises such as Tactical Manoeuvre, Flaghoist, and Damage Control Exercise.

Through this activity, the Indonesian Navy and RAN show a joint commitment to increasing interoperability, strengthening professionalism, and deepening cooperation in the field of hydrographic surveys and maritime navigation safety. The presence of KRI Spica and HMAS Leeuwin in Kupang is a tangible manifestation of the contribution of the two Navies in supporting security stability and peace in the Indonesia-Australia border area.

On a separate occasion, Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali said that this success was in accordance with the vision of professionalism of TNI Navy soldiers in carrying out maritime security operations, while affirming Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and improving maritime security in the Asia-Pacific region.
