FS Guepratte Returns From Indian Ocean Deployment

On March 31, 2022, the La Fayette type frigate (FLF) Guépratte returned to Toulon, its base port, after a two and a half month mission in the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. During its deployment, the Guépratte took part in Operation AGENOR (from January 23 to March 13, 2022) in order to contribute to the surveillance and assessment of the air and maritime situation in the Gulf.

The French frigate patrolled eight times alongside merchant ships and tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to the freedom of navigation in this strategic place on the globe. In addition, the Guépratte was able to conduct five cooperation exercises with the armed forces of the region, to strengthen interoperability and links between the different nations.

The high point of this cooperation was the major combined exercise KHUNDJAR HADD, organized by the Omani Navy which took place in the Gulf of Oman from March 6 to 10, bringing together more than twenty buildings and aircraft American, British, Omani and French.

Finally, the Guépratte was also engaged in support associated with Task Forces 465 and 150, which respectively fight against piracy and illicit trafficking that support terrorism in the region. During this deployment, the frigate seized more than 270 kg of heroin during an intervention on a suspect dhow.
