The launch of this first unit is scheduled for late January 2026, marking the beginning of its floating construction phase, equipment installation, outfitting, and sea trials during 2027.
With the successful assembly of the bow, reflecting the effective integration of all the plant’s workshops, ASMAR celebrates a new milestone in the construction of the first vessel of the Escotillón IV Project. This achievement demonstrates the technical coordination, collaborative effort, and commitment of the shipyard’s teams.
The vessel, which has already reached 92% structural completion, demonstrates ASMAR’s operational capacity and its strategic role in strengthening the national maritime industry.
“We are witnessing an important milestone in the structural construction process of the first vessel of the Escotillón IV Project, while we are steadily advancing in the construction of the second of a total of four vessels. Each of these stages reflects ASMAR’s commitment to strengthening the country’s maritime capabilities and to excellence in naval engineering,” emphasized Rear Admiral José Miguel Hernández, Director of ASMAR.
This progress strengthens the National Naval Construction Policy, in which ASMAR is a key player. It seeks to achieve a sustained cycle of naval production by coordinating the capabilities of the State, the private sector, academia, and technology centers, with the goal of providing the country with a modern, efficient, and sustainable maritime industrial base.
In parallel, the project continues with the construction of the second vessel, whose first steel plate was cut in August 2025 at ASMAR Talcahuano. This formally marked the start of the structure of the second unit, which will share the multipurpose design of its predecessor. Its construction is progressing according to schedule, progressively consolidating the industrial and technological capabilities of the shipyard and the country.
