The Secretariat of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, informs that today the departure ceremony of the Training Ship “Cuauhtémoc” was held, aboard it, in front of pier 86 in Hudson River Park, New York, with which the Training Cruise “Consolidation of Independence 2025” continues.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Officer of the Navy, Admiral Francisco Guillermo Escamilla Cazares, on behalf of the Admiral Secretary of the Navy and High Command of the Mexican Navy. Accompanied by the Alternate Permanent Representative to the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the UN, Ambassador Alicia Buenrostro; Mexico’s Attaché to the United Nations, Vice Admiral Javier Araiza Urrutia; Mexican Naval Attaché to the United States, Captain Marco Antonio Fuentes Lovatón; Commander of BE-01 Cuauhtémoc, Captain Víctor Hugo Molina Pérez, Consul General of Mexico in New York, Marcos Agusto Bucio Mújica and the Second Commander of BE-01 Cuauhtémoc, Captain José Fernando Meixueiro de los Santos.
For the above, the departure report was read, by the Commander of the ship, in which he reported the departure of: Six Captains, 37 Officers, 166 Cadets, 66 Classes and Sailors; urging the crew to continue training future officers of the Mexican Navy, taking the message of peace and goodwill of the Mexican people to the seas of the world.
During the ceremony, the Chief Navy Officer thanked the authorities of the City and Port of New York, authorities of the United States, the Embassy of Mexico and the Mexican Consulate for all the support, as well as the emergency medical services, who acted with efficiency and professionalism.
He later mentioned that, “All ships, whatever their mission, face risks in port and at sea. Sailors throughout history have faced storms, wars and accidents; their professional preparation allows them to bravely avoid them in order to recover the operability of their ships as soon as possible” for which he invoked the memory of our colleagues who occurred in the May event.
He also said that, “The Sailboat will resume its itinerary visiting the Mexican ports of Cozumel, Progreso and Veracruz. In the latter, it will participate on November 23, 2025, in the celebrations of the 200th Anniversary of the Consolidation of Independence in Mexico”
Finally, he urged the crew that sets sail on the Training Ship Sailboat Cuauhtémoc, Ambassador and Knight of the Seas, to put into practice their acquired experience and to continue representing Mexico with dignity, success and lordship in any corner of the world, likewise, to the cadets, he encouraged them to take advantage of every experience that the sea offers them to learn about their profession, and to always act with honor and dignity to serve our country in the best way
Followed by the exhortations by the Second Commander of the sailboat, ending with the intonation of the anthem of the Training Ship Cuauhtémoc and the Mexican National Anthem and proceeding to the disembarkation of the officials.
After carrying out the honors to the Chief Officer of the Navy in the seafaring style, the port and starboard watch and general maneuver were sounded, starting the departure maneuver.
With the above, this ship, emblem of the Mexican naval tradition and international benchmark of maritime culture, takes the strength of the wind and through its sails guided by the hands of the crew will carry with it the message of peace and goodwill of the Mexican people to the whole world, beyond adversity.
