From January 27 to 31, 2022, the Multi-Mission Frigate (FREMM) Provence took advantage of its operational break in the port of Piraeus, Greece, during its deployment in the Mediterranean, to maintain and strengthen the already strong ties that unite Greece. and France.
On January 28, Captain Nicolas Vandebrouck welcomed aboard the vessel, along with the French Ambassador to Greece, the Greek Minister of Defence, the Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Armies, as well as the Chief of the Greek Navy. This high-level official visit, which gave rise to numerous discussions on security issues in the Mediterranean basin, is a concrete manifestation of the Franco-Greek strategic partnership, aimed in particular at strengthening the interoperability of the armed forces of the two countries, in order to to ensure the stability of the eastern Mediterranean, a strategic area of Europe.
Engaged since the beginning of January in the central and eastern Mediterranean, the FREMM Provence contributes to the mission of quasi-permanent presence in the area, in support of the forces engaged in Operation CHAMMAL.
