During the morning of January 28 and after a week of intense training at sea, the Units of the National Squadron returned to the base port in the city of Valparaíso, after remaining in the first Operation of the year.
On the occasion, six frigates and two oil tankers participated, which were deployed in an area between Coquimbo and Valparaíso, where different exercises were carried out in order to raise the level of preparation of the crews and instruct the recently transferred personnel.
The Operation included a series of exercises aimed at training and training personnel in different tasks, such as air operations, logos maneuvers (transfer of fuel between ships sailing), internal training and exercises.
Regarding this training period, the Commander-in-Chief of the Squadron, Rear Admiral Gonzalo Peñaranda, highlighted the importance of “starting the year with a high-intensity operation, which presented relevant challenges, especially to the recently transferred personnel, who performed excellently, allowing operate safely, carrying out all the exercises and operating for a week without being affected by COVID, which shows the relevance of personal care measures to avoid contagion.”
The Chilean Navy begins the year 2022 by strengthening the missions aimed at an adequate management of the crisis framed in the Security and Territorial Interests Mission Area, training its capacities and endowments for the prosperous development of the country.
