Chevalier Paul Patrolling Strait of Hormuz

Engaged in AGENOR operation since December 5, 2021, under the tactical command of the European staff currently led by France, the Air Defense Frigate (FDA) Chevalier Paul led several surveillance missions for the benefit of merchant ships during of their crossing of the Strait of Hormuz.

Thanks to his detection capabilities, the Chevalier Paul actively participated in the surveillance of air and maritime activity, civil and military, in the Gulf and on both sides of the Strait of Hormuz. The aim of this air and sea situation surveillance mission is to strengthen knowledge of the area and to detect as early as possible any threats that could affect the freedom of navigation and the safety of commercial traffic in the strait.

Beyond this mission of monitoring navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the constant presence of military units in the Arab-Persian Gulf allows France to have an independent assessment of the situation in this area of strategic interest.
