ECR to Refit USS Mesa Verde

On April 24th the navy awarded East Coast Repair and Fabrication (ECR) Virginia Division its first major award under the Multiple Award Contract/Multiple-Order (MAC-MO) contract vehicle. The multi-million dollar award was for the 4 ½ month overhaul of the USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19). The USS Mesa Verde is a 684 foot long San Antonio class Amphibious Transport Dock ship capable of transporting aircraft on her flight deck and amphibious landing craft in her well deck. Her full compliment of 800 personnel includes 550 marines.

The work will be conducted at the Norfolk Naval Station from May 18th to September 25th. In addition to a complete blast & paint of nearly the entire ship’s superstructure, ECR will be conducting repairs of the ship’s mooring, firefighting, ventilation, rescue, resupply and Helo Control systems. Major repairs will be conducted to tanks, decking and vehicle stowage areas below decks along with preservation to all these areas.

This is a major step for ECR and we are excited to be the Prime contractor for the repairs to this warship and look forward to putting her back to sea, battle ready, even better than when she came in.
