Power Plant for Project 22350 Admiral Isakov Being Installed

The Project 22350 frigate “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Isakov” is under construction on the alignment of the main diesel engines, turbines and gearboxes. After this volume of work has been completed, the shipbuilders of Severnaya Verf (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) will be engaged in the alignment and installation of the shaft line. The construction progress of this ship, as well as other ships of this project, is under constant control of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

Earlier, in September, the third serial frigate “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Isakov” of project 22350 was loaded with turbines and gearboxes of a diesel-gas turbine unit (DGTA). DGTA M55R, developed at the United Engine Corporation, is a completely domestic unit created at Russian facilities. Both the port and starboard turbines, together with gearboxes, were loaded into the aft engine room of the ship through special technological cutouts.

Project 22350 frigates are designed to perform a wide range of tasks, including the destruction of surface ships, the search and destruction of submarines and ground targets, anti-aircraft, anti-submarine and anti-missile defense of ships and ships, joint actions with amphibious assault forces, patrol service, state border protection, protection of civil ships and industrial facilities in crisis and dangerous for navigation areas of the World Ocean.
