A solemn ceremony of transferring a large diesel-electric submarine Magadan of project 636.3 to the Navy took place in St. Petersburg at the enterprise of the United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC “Admiralty Shipyards”. The St. Andrew’s flag was raised on the submarine.
The ships of the Admiralty Shipyards transferred the Magadan submarine to the Russian Navy 1 month ahead of schedule. This suggests that in a number of areas of military shipbuilding and, in particular, in the issue of non-nuclear submarine shipbuilding, serious results have been achieved, when the construction of submarines is ahead of schedule. All this was the result of constant close interaction of the Main Command of the Navy with the United Shipbuilding Corporation, with the Admiralty Shipyards, as well as the responsible attitude of shipbuilders to the design and construction of non-nuclear submarines. An important role was played by the fact that the production facilities of the “Admiralty Shipyards” are constantly developing and modernizing “,
“The previous submarine Volkhov in the series was also transferred to the Navy a month earlier than the deadline set by the schedule. The construction of the entire series of 636.3 non-nuclear submarines for the Pacific Fleet is planned to be completed by 2024, ”said Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy.
On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Rear Admiral Mikhail Neupokoev took part in the admission ceremony for the Magadan diesel-electric submarine at the Admiralty Shipyards. He conveyed to the ceremony participants the words of Admiral Nikolai Evmenov that for many years the country’s Navy has been consistently equipping its combat strength, improving the combat capabilities of groups of troops and forces.
“Today there is another replenishment in the Navy. We are taking on a state-of-the-art combat ship, the large diesel-electric submarine Magadan. The ship and its crew have a lot of things to do before it enters its native harbor – Vladivostok: working out and handing over a full course of combat training tasks, entering the combat-ready forces of the Navy ” voiced by Rear Admiral Mikhail Neupokoev at the ceremony.
In turn, the General Director of Admiralty Shipyards Alexander Buzakov called the early transfer of the submarine a wonderful labor gift for the plant’s birthday.
The submarine Magadan was laid down in November 2019. Less than two years have passed since we raised the flag on it. This is a good pace that the Admiralty will maintain during the construction of the entire series for the Pacific Fleet, ”the head of the enterprise emphasized.
” Magadan” – the third submarine of the Pacific Fleet, launched on the water this year, March 26. Today the construction of the series is proceeding at an active pace and is nearing completion.
At present, a light hull is being formed on the fourth submarine of the Pacific series “Ufa”, pipe and electrical installation works, and an acoustic coating is being installed. The fifth and sixth submarines of the Mozhaisk and Yakutsk series were laid down at the enterprise with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 23, 2021. The submarine “Mozhaisk” is undergoing electric locksmithing of blocks, painting and insulation works are being carried out. Hydraulic tests of the ship’s bow block are planned for the end of the year. Also, the formation of blocks of the submarine “Yakutsk” is underway.
The contract for the construction of the series was signed in September 2016. This was a continuation of the implementation of the long-term plan of the Russian Ministry of Defense to restore the combat readiness of the country’s Navy and the program to improve diesel-electric submarines. The first ship, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, was handed over to the Russian Navy in November 2019. The Volkhov submarine, the second in the series, entered the Pacific Fleet on October 24, 2020.
