Pacific Fleet Flagship Varyag Testing Missiles in Peter the Great Bay

The flagship of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet), the guards missile cruiser (GRKR) Varyag, went to sea from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to participate in the exercise. Its crew will work out the destruction of the enemy ship with the main missile system and will perform practical combat training exercises.

In one of the areas of the exercise, the crews of the Varyag GRKR and a submarine from the Pacific Fleet’s submarine forces will work out a joint missile strike. In the role of the target, a marine target shield will be involved.

To ensure the safety of civilian navigation, more than 10 ships and support vessels of the Pacific Fleet will perform tasks to close the combat training area. The exercise will take place in one of the marine training grounds in the Peter the Great Bay.
