Colombian Navy Seized Another Submersible With Cocaine

September 1, 2021 – The offensive against drug trafficking carried out by the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Pacific region, leaves a total of 21 semisubmersible naval artifacts seized, so far in 2021.

The Colombian Navy, in the development of a joint and inter-institutional operation with the National Army and the Attorney General’s Office, managed to seize more than 1.8 tons of cocaine transported aboard a semi-submersible naval device in the South Pacific. With this seizure, the trafficking and consumption of more than 4,500,000 doses of narcotic drugs in countries of the region and the income of more than 60 million dollars to the finances of the dissident group of the Farc “Western Bloque Alfonso Cano” was avoided.

This forceful blow inflicted by Units of the Marine Infantry Brigade No. 4 with the support of a vessel from the Pacific Surface Flotilla and troops from the National Army’s Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, was carried out with intelligence information. of the Colombian Navy, which allowed intercepting the semi-submersible loaded with the alkaloid at the moment in which subjects tried to remove it through an area of ​​estuaries, located north of the department of Nariño.

Upon noticing the presence of the authorities, the subjects who manned the low-profile boat jumped into the water and fled into a mangrove area, abandoning the semi-submersible loaded with the cache and a speedboat that was apparently escorting them.

At the time of inspecting the 17-meter-long naval device, 90 sacks were found with several rectangular packages that, due to their physical characteristics, would probably correspond to illegal substances, for which they were transferred to the dock of the Tumaco Coast Guard Station, where members of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor’s Office carried out the approved preliminary identification test that was positive for 1872 kilograms of cocaine.

In the last month, the Colombian Navy has affected in more than 200 million dollars the finances of the dissident armed group of the Farc “Western Bloc Alfonso Cano” that commits crimes under the criminal command of alias “Allende” on the Pacific Coast of Nariño, with the seizure of more than 5.8 tons of narcotics, three semi-submersible naval devices and three speedboats, as well as the destruction of complexes for the processing of cocaine.

The Colombian Navy will continue to deploy all its operational capabilities to counteract the criminal actions of the FARC dissidents that commit crimes in the Pacific, ratifying its commitment to the protection of the national territory and the well-being of all Colombians, while inviting all the community to provide information to prevent the illegal use of the waters under its jurisdiction, through lines 146 and 147 available 24 hours a day.
