Today, on August 31, the first stage of the inter-fleet towing from the Northern Fleet to St. Petersburg, and then to Kronstadt of the legendary nuclear submarine K-3 “Leninsky Komsomol” was passed.
Floating dock “Sviyaga” with the submarine “K-3” arrived in Belomorsk and stood on the roadstead. Preparations are being made for the subsequent passage of the floating dock through the White Sea-Baltic Canal. The passage of the channel will begin in the next two days.
Towing of the submarine is carried out in the floating dock “Sviyaga” with the help of tugs.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, “The Sviyaga floating dock with the K-3 submarine successfully carried out the first stage of towing and arrived in Belomorsk. In the near future, the passage of the White Sea Canal will be carried out and the dock with the submarine will arrive in St. Petersburg at the Northern Shipyard. There the submarine will be withdrawn from the floating dock for subsequent towing to Kronstadt, “where it will become a museum.”
