Project 971 Kuzbass Returns from Deployment

August 24, 2021 – The nuclear submarine (nuclear submarine) “Kuzbass” of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) returned to the basing point after a long performance of missions at sea.

At the point of permanent deployment of the Pacific Fleet’s Submarine Forces, submariners were met by the command of the formation, staff officers, the administration of the Vilyuchinsky urban district, fleet veterans, youth soldiers, relatives and friends.

The commander of the nuclear submarine “Kuzbass” reported that the personnel had completed the assigned task, they were healthy and ready to carry out new orders.

The interim commander of the Pacific Fleet’s submarine forces, Hero of Russia, Rear Admiral Valery Varfolomeev, congratulated the crew on the successful completion of the combat mission and, according to tradition, presented the crew with a roast pig.

The event ended with a solemn awarding of the most distinguished servicemen.

The submariners were also congratulated on their return home by the leadership of the city administration, veterans and representatives of the women’s council.

The nuclear submarine Kuzbass is a Project 971 Shchuka-B multipurpose nuclear submarine of the 3rd generation.
