August 21, 2021 – After sailing 110 days and 10,300 nautical miles, the ARC “Gloria” training ship returned to Cartagena to successfully complete the training cruise for a group of 81 Cadets from the “Almirante Padilla” Naval Cadet School.
At the dock for larger vessels of the ARC “Bolívar” Naval Base, in the majestic Bay of Cartagena, our flagship was berthed in a solemn ceremony presided over by Doctor Diego Molano, Minister of Defense of Colombia.
The crew, made up of 155 uniformed personnel, including a National Army Officer, a Colombian Air Force Officer, a National Police Officer, 81 Cadets and Midshipmen, had the opportunity to visit the ports of Jacksonville in the United States, Veracruz in Mexico, Puerto Cortés in Honduras, the Islands of San Andrés and Providencia in Colombia and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
This training cruise is an opportunity within the process of training future Officers, where they enliven their love for the sea, apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom and gain experience in navigation, while receiving instruction on astronomical navigation, maneuvers, and control. of breakdowns, auxiliary machinery and general logistics.
The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive education and training of the students of its training schools, allowing them to enhance their knowledge and skills in the units afloat, to protect the blue of the flag.
