The large anti-submarine ship of the Northern Fleet “Severomorsk”, solving the problems of a long voyage in the Arctic, headed from the shores of the Franz Josef Land archipelago, where he recently conducted a joint exercise with the border patrol ship “Polar Star”, to the southwest.
The forces and assets of the Northern Fleet continue measures to control the activities of the ships of the NATO Joint Naval Forces (OVMS) in the northeastern regions of the Atlantic.
Earlier, a number of NATO OVMS ships showed an increased interest in the ships of the Northern Fleet that participated in the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, at the stage of moving to permanent basing points.
The large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk is currently overseeing the NATO Naval Forces involved in a joint unscheduled air defense exercise in the northeastern part of the Norwegian Sea.
The US Navy destroyer Orly Burke also participates in this exercise, which made the transition from August 10 to 16 from the deployment base of Rota (Spain) to the waters of the Norwegian Sea.
The next Arctic cruise of the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk began on August 10 and is taking place as part of a set of measures aimed at protecting the interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic. It is planned that the trip will last about two months and will pass through the seas of the Arctic Ocean, including in the areas of the Northern Sea Route.
The Severomorsk will take part in several exercises to defend the island and continental territories of Russia in the Arctic, as well as to ensure the safety of maritime navigation and other types of maritime economic activities of the Russian Federation in the Arctic zone.
