Russian Navy Ships in Iran for Sea Cup ArMI-2021

August 19, 2021 – Today, a detachment of ships of the Caspian Flotilla consisting of the rescue tugboat SB-738, small artillery ships “Astrakhan” and “Makhachkala” arrived in the port of Bandar-Anzali of the Islamic Republic of Iran, located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, to participate in the international competition “Sea Cup” ArMI-2021.

In the territorial waters of Iran, Russian ships were met and escorted to the port by a coast guard ship of the Navy of the Republic.

At the pier, the sailors of the Caspian Flotilla were met by officers of the Iranian Navy, a military band and journalists.

The head of the Russian naval delegation, Deputy Commander of the Caspian Flotilla, Rear Admiral Sergei Ekimov, was greeted on the shore by the Deputy Commander of the Iranian Navy in the northern sea region (on the Caspian Sea), Captain 1st Rank Hamid Reza Saadat, who noted that Iranian servicemen are very pleased to be the host of the “Sea Cup” competition this year, and they are pleased to welcome the ships of all participants in the competition.

The ships of the Russian Navy were moored at the mooring wall, near which there were already participants of the competition from the Azerbaijani and Kazakh Navies, who arrived in Anzali a few days earlier.

Due to the difficult epidemic situation, the events of the competition will be held taking into account preventive measures and compliance with the mask regime.
