RFS Krasnodar Conducted Torpedo Training in the Baltic Sea

August 3, 2021 – As part of the tactical exercise, the crew of the diesel-electric submarine (DEPL) of project 636.3 “Krasnodar” performed conditional torpedo firing from an underwater position in the Baltic Sea.

The crew of the submarine successfully completed the tasks and conducted conditional firing of torpedo weapons from an underwater position at an underwater target, in the role of which the diesel-electric submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky acted.

Torpedo firing is an indispensable element of the combat training of submariners and is carried out in accordance with the approved plan. Crews of warships and rescue vessels, naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet ensure the performance of tactical tasks in the sea of diesel-electric submarines “Krasnodar” and “Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky”.

Krasnodar and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky are Russian diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 Varshavyanka. The series of submarines 636.3 is significantly different from the previous “Varshavyanok”. Updated inertial navigation system, CICS of the latest model and modern missile and torpedo armament. Submarines of this project are designed to combat surface ships and submarines, setting minefields, conducting reconnaissance. One of the main advantages of these submarines is the low noise level.
