A turning point has come that could be an innovative catalyst for the development of Korea’s space industry. Last May, Korea and Korea Through the U.S. Summit, Korea and Korea The U.S. missile directive has ended. Through this, as missile development as well as restrictions on projectiles are lifted, it will be possible to join the great power of the space industry by creating the achievement of firing satellites developed in Korea from Korea’s land anytime, anywhere.
Developed countries are approaching space for civilian and scientific purposes as well as security areas. In accordance with the end of the missile guidelines, korea has created accelerated conditions for defense space development, and the need for space development, such as defense satellites and projectiles, has also been expanded. In the future, the government’s investment in satellite and projectile development will account for more than 50% of the need for defense. The Defense Business Administration will establish and promote a defense strategy for satellite industrialization in order to respond to the growing demand for defense space development.
First, korea plans to secure the technical capabilities to develop satellites on its own. Ultra-small and medium· In order to locale the core components of the large satellite and secure space inspection history, we planned to invest approximately 1.5 trillion won in the development of core technologies such as sar antenna development. Among them, we will invest more than 50% in the challenges we will develop at the corporate initiative to strengthen the technical capacity of domestic companies.
Second, it will expand the role of domestic companies and strengthen competitiveness.
We will gradually shift satellite development entities from the center of the Defense Science Institute to the corporate initiative, and in the case of mass-producing satellite development projects, we will diversify the participating companies to maximize the company’s production capacity. In addition, the company will ease the business burden by improving the restrictions on contracts and test evaluations of satellite development projects.
Finally, we plan to create a satellite industry ecosystem by building space development infrastructure. Satellite system-grade assembly for domestic companies to assemble and test satellites without worrying about schedules and costs. It plans to establish a test facility and establish a procedure for promoting satellite development projects specialized in the purpose of national defense. We will hold defense space policy forums and space enterprise meetings, and participate in korea space forums to secure technology exchange and export opportunities.
In March, President Moon jae-in received a report on space strategy at the Narouju Center and announced that he would promote the chairman of the National Space Council from the current Minister of Science, Technology and Information and Communications to prime minister. Currently, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Information and Communications is comprehensively reviewing the amendments to the Space Development Promotion Act, including the promotion of the National Space Commission and the management of the Space Development Department committee separately from the national defense sector. It is important for Korea to develop satellites in Korea through collaboration between the agencies in order to make the leap to space development developed countries in the New Space Era, starting with the end of the missile guidelines, and to catch two rabbits that generate the results of satellite exports. In addition to creating advanced jobs through the development of the space industry in the defense sector, the synergy of the associated industries is expected to grow together.
