The Commander of the Royal Thai Navy has ordered the Royal Thai Navy to deploy personnel and equipment to assist flood-affected civilians in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.

Today (November 25, 2025), Admiral Thadawut Thadpitakgul, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Navy, traveled to inspect the readiness and boost the morale of Royal Thai Navy personnel who are set to embark on a mission to aid civilians suffering from flooding in southern Thailand. The inspection took place aboard HTMS Chakri Naruebet, which is docked at the Chuk Samet Pier, Sattahip Naval Base, Chonburi Province.

In response to the flooding that has occurred across multiple areas in southern Thailand, particularly in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, which has caused significant hardship for a large number of civilians, the Royal Thai Navy, under the directive of Admiral Phairote Phuangchan, Commander of the Royal Thai Navy, has ordered the Royal Thai Navy Disaster Relief Center to assemble naval forces, aircraft, and special operations teams to form a disaster relief flotilla led by HTMS Chakri Naruebet. The vessel is urgently loading food, medical equipment along with field medical teams, and essential supplies for relief efforts. It will depart from Sattahip Naval Base this evening, accompanied by two helicopters and various operations teams, to carry out the mission from now until the situation improves.

In this operation, HTMS Chakri Naruebet will serve as a floating operations base for helicopters and drones, as well as a floating kitchen capable of producing more than 3,000 hot meals per day, and a floating hospital equipped with an emergency medical team. Additionally, the Royal Thai Navy has integrated forces with specialized capabilities from various units, such as special operations teams from the Naval Special Warfare Command, Fleet Command; underwater demolition and ordnance disposal teams from the Naval Weapons Arsenal Department; and the Reconnaissance Battalion, Marine Corps Division, Marine Corps Command, along with 14 rubber boats, to enter the affected areas and prioritize assistance for civilians stranded in areas with strong currents.

Furthermore, to facilitate relief efforts from various sectors, the Fleet Command has opened collection points for personnel and civilians to donate essential supplies to be transported aboard HTMS Chakri Naruebet. Donations are being accepted at HTMS Chakri Naruebet and the Fleet Command Ordnance Depot until 8:00 p.m. today, before HTMS Chakri Naruebet departs to provide aid to civilians in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.
