Jakarta, November 20, 2017 – In order to implement the Mental Revolution Program to Accelerate the Realization of Indonesia as a World Maritime Axis and support the Sabang Sail Activity in 2017, Coordinating Minister for the Ministry of Marine Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan was accompanied by Navy Admiral Ade Supandi, SE , MAP, and Chairman of Jalasenastri Ny. Endah Ade Supandi officially released Task Force (Satgas) Sail Sabang in 2017 at JICT Pier, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta (20/11).
On the release of the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Task Force (Satgas Surya Bhaskara Jaya (SBJ LXVI)) was established by using KRI Soeharso -990, the VII Voyage Sailing Task Force (KUN) Banda Aceh-593 and Nusantara Jaya III Expedition ENJ) in 2017 by using KRI Dewaruci Dan KRI Bima Suci -945 which also support the Sabang Sail activities 2017. This activity was also enlivened by the Dapunta Theater show and the Drumworm Display of the Navy Academy Taruna.
On the occasion, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs said that the implementation of this year’s Sail is very unique, because there are two high pole ships that participated in the mission of shipping to Sabang. Two of these ships, KRI Dewaruci and KRI Bima Suci -945 are the sailboats of Indonesian pride.
“The vessel is a crater candradimuka for the Navy cadets to forge their mental and physical in order to have the character and nature like the bima who is willing, obedient, alert and humble”, said Coordinating Minister of Agriculture RI.
Sabang Sail 2017 is an international activity that has a goal to improve the regional economy, especially through the maritime tourism sector, this activity is also a momentum to promote marine tourism homeland to make Sabang area as a major tourist destination. In addition, the implementation of international activities Sail Sabang 2017 is also to accelerate the development of potential marine and tourism resources.
TNI Navy deployed dozens of warships to carry out various activities of Sail Sabang 2017, covering the activities of Satgas Surya Bhaskara Jaya (SBJ LXVI)) using KRI Soeharso -990, VII Pelayaran Lingkar Nusantara (Pelantara) VII using KRI Banda Aceh-593 and Expedition Nusantara Jaya III (ENJ) 2017 by using KRI Dewaruci and KRI Bima Suci -945. Other elements of the Navy deployed to support the Sabang Sail 2017 event include 13 KRI, 3 KAL, 1 Patkamla, 6 sea raiders, 8 rubber boats, 2 water taxis, 7 aircraft and 4,982 Navy personnel.
Sail itself has been conducted eight times in Indonesia, starting in 2009 by holding Sail Bunaken Manado, followed by Banda Sail in Banda Waters, Maluku in 2010, Sail Wakatobi-Belitong in 2011, Sail Morotai in Morotai, North Maluku in year 2012, Sail Komodo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in 2013, Sail Raja Ampat in Waisai Raja Ampat, West Papua 2014, Sail Tomini 2015 in Parigi Moutong Palu Central Sulawesi, Sail Karimata Strait 2016 at Pantai P. Datok-Sukadana Regency Kayong Utara West Kalimantan, and Sabang Sail 2017 is the ninth Sail to be held in Sabang city of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province.
