Today, March 26, 2015, a protocol meeting was held in Odessa City Council. The Mayor of Odessa Gennadiy Trukhanov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic in Ukraine Mr. Alain Remy and the commander of the French frigate «La Fayette» the Captain of the 2nd Rank Mr. Makar Uk. The meeting was held on the occasion of French frigate’s entering in Odessa.
According to the press center of the Command of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, it is planned to share experiences between the personnel of the Navy frigate of the French Republic «La Fayette» and Ukrainian Navy frigate “Hetman Sahaidachniy” on the organization of professional training on Ukrainian and French Republic Navy ships.
Also, the program of the visit includes holding a friendly mini-football match between the teams of the crew of the ship «La Fayette» and the Navy Faculty of Odessa National Maritime Academy.
The French ship will stay in Odessa to the 30th of March 2015.
Since late January, the ship of the French Navy from Toulon fulfills its military tasks in the eastern waters of the Mediterranean, and, since March – in the Black Sea. The stop in Odessa is the last on the way to the home port of Toulon.
Length of «La Fayette» is 125 meters, width – 15.4 meters, draft – 4.8 meters, total displacement of water – 3600 tons. Speed – 25 knots, cruising range – 7,000 nautical miles at 15 knots. The crew numbers 164 people.
