Amphibious Training Event Begins Off Djibouti’s Coast

Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade has begun a two-week amphibious training event in international waters off the African coast of Djibouti. NATO’s Submarine Warfare Exercise DYNAMIC MANTA 2018 (DYMA 18) began March 5th off the Sicilian coast. Ships, submarines, aircraft and personnel from 10 Allied nations converging on the Central Mediterranean Sea for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASUW) training. USS Laboon Makes Second Drug Bust in a Week

March 21, 2017 – For the second time in five days, guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) intercepted a small, stateless dhow in the international waters of the Arabian Sea and seized 500 kilograms of Hashish, March 17. CTF 150’s Second Drug Bust in Two Weeks

March 14, 2017 – Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 has made a second seizure of drugs in under two weeks in the Arabian Sea. On 13 March,  USS LABOON seized 270 kg of heroin concealed on a dhow that had been tracked by a helicopter from RFA Fort Victoria. The USS LABOON’s boarding team conducted a thorough search of the dhow that resulted in the discovery of the heroin. Laboon Departs for Deployment

January 23, 2017 – Destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) departed Naval Station Norfolk for a scheduled deployment, Jan. 21. Laboon is deploying as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWBCSG) deployment in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. Navy’s 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
