Raytheon Co., McKinney, Texas, is awarded a five-year performance-based logistics contract (N00383-18-D-PH01) in the amount of $59,717,916 for support of the CH-53 and V-22 Forward Looking Infrared System. The first delivery order for the first year of the contract will be issued concurrently with the award of the basic contract in the amount of $15,971,160. Huntington Ingalls Industries Prepares for 25-Month Overhaul of USS Boise (SSN 764)

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding division has begun scheduled overhaul work on the nuclear-powered submarine USS Boise (SSN 764). The Los Angeles-class submarine arrived at Newport News on Monday and will undergo planned maintenance and repair activities pierside before it will be moved to a dry dock in January 2019. A massive maintenance backlog has idled 15 nuclear-powered attack submarines for a total of 177 months, and the Navy’s plan to mitigate the problem is jeopardized by budget gridlock, two House Armed Services Committee staffers told Breaking Defense. That is almost 15 submarine-years, the equivalent of taking a boat from the 2018 budget and not adding it back until 2033. Huntington Ingalls Industries announced today that its Newport News Shipbuilding division has received a $59.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy for planning and executing the overhaul of the submarine USS Boise (SSN 764). The contract includes options that, if exercised, would bring the total value of the contract to $385 million.
