HMS Northumberland sails into Liverpool for four-day visit

May 22, 2019 – Frigate HMS Northumberland sailed into Liverpool for a four-day logistics stop after shadowing a Russian naval vessel through the English Channel. The Plymouth-based Type 23 frigate arrived at Liverpool’s cruise liner berth with her ship’s company lining the upper deck in full ceremonial uniforms.   The ship and her crew – including three Liverpool natives – were alongside to take on supplies and enjoy a brief respite from the operations she has been conducting. DE&S Awards £23m Radio Contract Keeping Sailors Connected at Sea

December 5, 2018 – Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), the Ministry of Defence procurement organization, has signed a £23 million agreement to provide Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) ships with new radios. The state-of-the-art radios will be installed on 39 ships in total, including Type 23 Frigates, survey and ice patrol vessels, minehunters and RFA supply ships and will be used to communicate with other ships, ports and aircraft during operations.
