October 2, 2018 – USS Shoup (DDG 86) arrived in Suva, Oct. 3, as part of the ship’s Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI) deployment. “Our crew is excited to be in Fiji and is ready to execute the OMSI mission,” said Cmdr. Michael Murphy Begins Joint Patrols in Oceanic Region

USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and the U.S. Coast Guard began joint maritime security patrols designed to reduce and eliminate illegal fishing in the Western Pacific, March 26. The guided-missile destroyer and embarked Coast Guard personnel began a mission called the Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI), a U.S. Defense Department program aimed to suppress illicit activities on the high seas.
