HMS Queen Elizabeth Makes First Visit to Canada

September 12, 2019 – The UK’s new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth arrives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this morning in an historic first visit. The 65,000-tonne warship, the biggest ever built for the Royal Navy, will be joined in harbour by other ships from the UK Carrier Strike Group who are on a deployment called ‘Westlant 19’. August 30, 2019 – Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has sailed from Portsmouth today, bound for the east coast of the USA for operational trials. For the first time, UK fighter jets will join this state-of-the-art ship in a significant milestone for the program. Royal Navy hands over command of NATO Task Group in Portugal

Commodore Mike Utley OBE formally handed over command of the Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) to his Dutch counterpart Commodore Boudewijn GFM Boots, in the port of Lisbon on Saturday 30 June. This marked the end of a year long UK commitment leading SNMG2.
