WASP ARG Conducts PASSEX with JMSDF

August 26, 2018 – Ships assigned to the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), with attached 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, partnered with Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) JS Osumi (LST 4001) to conduct a passing exercise (PASSEX), Aug. 26. During a PASSEX, multiple ships sail in formation to practice communications and maneuvering procedures. Ships of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, sailed together with the amphibious transport dock JS Shimokita (LST 4002) in a bilateral formation, April 9.
