Pacific Fleet KA-27 Deck Landing Training

The Pacific Fleet Naval Aviation’s helicopter squadron exercised taking-off and deck landing on submarine rescue vessel Alagez in the Avacha Bay water area, Kamchatka. The Ka-27PL and Ka-27PS helicopters of a mixed naval air regiment practiced improving elements of deck landing on the ship underway. Naval pilots also trained their skills in choosing the optimal approach course, direction finding and touch-down accuracy. Helicopter crews of the Baltic Fleet improve their piloting skill

Crews of Mi-24 and Ka-27 helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation conducted scheduled training flights. Pilots of Mi-24 helicopters practiced landing and taking off, flights to the assigned sea area in order to check surface situation, conduct strikes on targets with GSh-23 aviation gun and unguided projectiles. Special attention was paid to flights at nighttime, instrumental landing, flights over the sea as well as covering ship and ground groupings from the air. About 10 different helicopters were involved in the training.

Naval aviation to receive about 50 modernised Ka-27 helicopters

The Russian naval aviation’s possibilities in searching for and detecting submarines are to be raised to a new level due to about 50 modernized Ka-27 shipborne ASW helicopters. These deck-based helicopters have already proven their best and shown high efficiency. At present, 20 modernized Ka-27M helicopters have already entered the Naval Aviation’s strength.
