Raytheon Wins US Navy JPALS Contract

June 17, 2019 – Raytheon has won a four-year $234 million initial low-rate production contract from the U.S. Navy to outfit all of its nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships with 23 Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems. Into the Fold: F-35C Carrier Qualifications Aboard Lincoln

USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) completed fleet carrier qualifications (CQ) for the F-35C Lightning II program, marking another milestone for the new aircraft, while underway March 17-21. Pilots assigned to the “Rough Raiders” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 125 and the “Grim Reapers” of VFA 101 accomplished day and night qualifications with 140 traps in anticipation of F-35C operational testing later this year. Aircraft Launch and Recovery Systems in Sync

Aboard the U.S. Navy’s newest and most technologically advanced aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), it takes an entire suite of systems to enable safe and effective operations on the flight deck. This infographic shows the aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) aboard the ship, which returned from Independent Steaming Exercise Two (ISE-2) the second week of October. Duirng ISE-2, Ford Sailors conducted 83 launches and traps, which included nighttime flight operations.
