NATO Secretary General visits HDMS Esbern Snare & USS Harry S. Truman

October 11, 2018 – On 12 October 2018, the Secretary General, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, will visit the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and the Royal Danish Navy support ship HDMS Esbern Snare, flagship of NATO’s first Standing Maritime Group. Mr. Stoltenberg will be accompanied by the Chairman of the Military Committee, Sir Stuart Peach, by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Curtis Scaparrotti, and by other senior military officials. NATO Maritime Group Sails with Japanese Training Squadron

August 22, 2018 – Yesterday, Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) participated in a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) with a Japan Maritime Self Defense Force training squadron that is currently sailing in the Baltic Sea. SNMG1 spent the day with JMSDF cadet training vessel JS Kashima and the destroyer JS Makinami. Japan is one of a number of countries beyond the Euro-Atlantic area with which NATO is developing relations.
