Next Generation Unmanned System Unveiled at DSEi

September 10, 2019 – A next-generation unmanned system that could be used to protect the UK’s future warships has been unveiled by Defence Secretary Ben Wallace today. The new system is similar to a water-borne drone. At 13 metres long, the vessel swims around a naval task force, while being remote controlled from a rig. The systems can be used to identify threats such as mines or collect intel on enemy ships. Terma Aircraft Survivability Equipment installed on Dutch NH90 helicopters prepared for final tests

In 2012, Terma completed a study program for Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) to identify the best possible way of protecting the NH90 aircraft against IR seeking missiles. The study identified a number of solutions all centered around a Missile Warning System, the Terma Advanced Countermeasures Dispenser System, and ALQ-213 Electronic Warfare (EW) controller.
