52 Illegal Immigrants Intercepted in Mona Passage

November 14, 2019 – U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Dominican Republic Navy air and surface units interdicted 52 migrants aboard a makeshift vessel during an illegal voyage Wednesday in the Mona Passage. The group of migrants included 51 Dominican Republic and one Cuban nationals, 39 men and 13 women, who were safely returned to the Dominican Republic. November 29, 2018 – Coast Guard Cutter Isaac Mayo (WPC-1112) crew repatriated 11 Cuban migrants Thursday to Cuba. A good Samaritan located a rustic vessel approximately 18 miles southeast of Islamorada, Monday.
