September 3, 2018 – On the morning of 29 August 2018, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF)’s JS Akebono and the Spanish Navy’s ESPS Castilla – flagships under the command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 and the European Union Naval Force (EU NAVFOR) CTF465 respectively – conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) in the Gulf of Aden. EUNAVFOR’s ESPS Patiño Supporting International Navies

EUNAVFOR’s Spanish Warship ESPS Patiño has further supported Combined Maritime Forces by rendezvousing with an Australian and Pakistani Warship and conducting Replenishment at Sea (RAS). HMAS Warramunga of CTF150 and PNS Aslat of CTF151 took on board a total of 390 cubic metres of fuel essential for the continuation of Maritime Security in the region.
