Navy to Commission Littoral Combat Ship Omaha

The Navy will commission its newest Independence variant of the littoral combat ship, the future USS Omaha, during a ceremony Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. PST at the Broadway Pier in San Diego, according to a Defense Department news release. The future USS Omaha, designated LCS 12, is the eleventh littoral combat ship to enter the fleet and the sixth of the Independence-variant design, the release said. Future USS Omaha (LCS 12) Visits Guantanamo Bay

USS Omaha (LCS 12) made a fuel stop at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (NSGB), Jan. 2-6. During its visit to the installation, OMAHA conducted public tours of the ship on Jan. 4, providing residents and visitors of NSGB the opportunity to board one of the Navy’s newest ships to the fleet.
