The Ka-27 helicopters, the Baltic Fleet Air Force, are carrying out control drills on instrument flying. The Ka-27PL ASW and KA-27PS SAR helicopters are practicing instrument flying. Special curtains cover the cockpit so that the flight can be performed only by means of flight instruments. Crews fly along the assigned routes, relying on board equipment. When approaching for landing, pilots use special systems and alternative means.
