October 26, 2019 – The Military Sealift Command’s Lewis and Clark class dry cargo ship USNS Matthew C Perry (T-AKE 9) arrived in Suva Harbor for a scheduled port visit. Oct. 25.
The port visit provides the crew an opportunity to enjoy cultural activities and support enduring maritime partnerships with their Fijian hosts.
“We’re very happy to be here,” said civilian mariner Capt. Mark A. Perdue, ship’s master for USNS Matthew C Perry. “These visits provide an opportunity to rest, meet with the people of Suva, and experience the rich history and culture of Fiji.”
USNS Matthew C Perry is a combat logistics force ship, operated by civilian merchant mariners, that helps the Navy maintain global forward presence. She delivers fuel, ammunition, food and other dry cargo to U.S. and allied ships at sea and can support multi-mission capabilities.
