USS Carney Departs Faslane

May 2, 2019 – USS Carney (DDG 64) departed Faslane, Scotland, following a scheduled port visit, May 1, 2019.

During Carney’s three-week port visit in Faslane, the crew was able to conduct system maintenance, host the afloat training group, and tour the submarine facilities at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde.

“We are extremely grateful to Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde and the people of Scotland for hosting us for an extended period of time,” said Cmdr. Tyson Young, commanding officer of Carney. “Our crew not only had the chance to concentrate on training for exercises and inspections but was able to experience the wonderful history and culture throughout the country.”

Carney is scheduled to participate in the U.S.-led multinational exercise Formidable Shield 19.
