Black Sea Fleet frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov involved in exercise in the Mediterranean Sea

November 20, 2018 – Battle stations of air defense units of the Black Sea Fleet frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov conducted joint exercise in the Mediterranean Sea to detect unidentified air targets and repel simulated airstrikes.

While working out the tasks, units of the warships detected and classified targets, and the air defense units engaged air targets of the adversary by the warships’ anti-aircraft weapons.

The crews of Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen are conducting tasks in the Mediterranean Sea for the second time in this year.
Earlier, the Black Sea Fleet warships had taken part and practiced the tasks during the inter-naval exercise in the far maritime zone supervised by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy of the Russian Federation.
