Arleigh Burke Arrives in Rota

USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) arrived in Rota, Spain, for a scheduled port visit, July 9. The port visit reaffirms the cooperation efforts between the partner nations to establish conditions for security and stability in the region. Carrier Strike Group operations demonstrate the mobility, flexibility, and power projection capability of the Navy’s globally deployed force.

“This visit to Rota is a good opportunity for our Sailors to enjoy time in Spain and get some much deserved rest after doing great work for both the ship and our areas of operation,” said Cmdr. Errol Robinson, commanding officer of Arleigh Burke.

While in port, the Arleigh Burke will have the opportunity to refuel, replenish and refresh while the crew experiences the local culture of Spain. Arleigh Burke departed Norfolk, Va., April 11, as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

With the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as the flagship, deploying strike group assists include staffs, ships, and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 8, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 28 and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1; as well as Sachsen-class German Frigate FGS Hessen (F 221).
