On April 14th, a Pacific Fleet task force composed of the major ASW ships Admiral Tributs, Admiral Vinogradov and middle sea tanker Pechenga completed its unofficial visit to Manila, which began June 9th.
During the visit, the detachment commander Captain 1 Rank Oleg Korolyov met with the Commander of the Navy and Commander of the Coast Guard of the Philippines.
Igor Khovayev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of the Philippines, Republic of Palau and Federated States of Micronesia, the detachment commander and commanding officers of the ships laid a wreath and flowers at the monument to Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.
In Manila, the Russian military ships were visited by the RF Embassy employees and the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard seamen.
The Marine Corps in Fort Bonifacio hosted friendly football and volleyball matches between Russian and Philippine servicemen. The Russian seamen made toured round historical sites the city, the Luneta Park and National Museum.
After leaving Manila, the Russian warships conducted trainings on joint tactical maneuvering and signal communications together with the Philippine warships.
