USS Oscar Austin Departs Brest

USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) departed Brest, France, October 12, 2017, after a port visit and refueling.

Oscar Austin is conducting a routine deployment supporting U.S. national security interests in Europe and increasing theater security cooperation and forward naval presence in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.

“Our time in Brest was very well spent,” said Cdr Samantha Dutily, commanding officer, USS Oscar Austin. “It provided the crew an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful country of France, allowed us to refuel the ship, and gave me the opportunity to take command of USS Oscar Austin during a very memorable ceremony held on the ship’s flight deck. I am humbled and honored to be the commanding officer of this mighty warship.”
